Anthony mellor and team fitted us a heat source heat pump with full system and radiators. We had no heating whatsoever so this was a job from scratch. I can honestly say from the initial quotation to actually fitting the full system start to finish this was undertaken in the most professional way. The Team and housekeeping was A star ⭐️ And the full job from start to finish was impeccable! I would not hesitate in using this firm again and trust me we are fussy! The workers are an absolute pleasure to have in your property and the most polite workers with great work ethics! I’d use Anthony for any plumbing needs again in a heartbeat! We love our heat pump, bring on winter

How do air-source heat pumps work?
1. Absorption of Air: The ASHP absorbs heat from the surrounding air. Even in cold weather, there is heat energy present in the air.
2. Compression: The absorbed heat causes the refrigerant to evaporate into a gas. The compressor in the ASHP increases the pressure of the gas, raising its temperature.
3. Heat Transfer: The hot, pressurised gas is then passed through a condenser coil inside the indoor unit of the ASHP. As the gas cools, it releases its heat energy, which is transferred to your home’s heating system.
4. Cycle Repeats: The refrigerant, now in a cooler state, returns to the ASHP to begin the process again.
This process is highly efficient and can operate at temperatures as low as -15 °C, ensuring you and your loved ones stay warm and cosy even during the coldest winter months.
What are the benefits of air-source heat pumps?
-
Energy Efficiency: ASHPs generate 3-5 kilowatts of energy per unit of electricity they use. When compared to traditional gas, LPG, or oil boilers, they are between 300% and 500% more efficient.
-
Lower Running Costs: ASHP’s result in lower heating bills when compared to traditional boiler systems, especially in well-insulated homes.
-
Government Incentives: Many government schemes offer incentives to customers who are committed to using greener energy solutions like ASHP’s. Our expert team can talk you through the schemes that are available and even help with the application process.
-
Versatility: ASHPs can be used to heat your home in winter and cool it in summer. They also work with various heating systems, such as traditional central heating and underfloor heating, making them a versatile bit of kit.
-
Longevity: ASHPs have an extremely long lifespan. It can be as much as 20 years with the correct maintenance compared to a traditional boiler. This figure is double.
